It all started when a group of Central Michigan University students in the School of Broadcast and Cinematic Arts decided to bring independent cinema to campus.

From there, the idea grew, and the Central Michigan International Film Festival was born. Through the hard work and dedication of CMU students and faculty, CMIFF has become a much-anticipated annual event. Every February, CMIFF brings a diverse slate of independent and international cinema to both CMU’s campus and the local community of Mt. Pleasant.

The Central Michigan International Film Festival has grown and is supported solely through sponsorships, grants, and donations. We now offer five-day screenings at multiple venues on and off Central Michigan University’s campus. Our venue partners include Celebration Cinema, the historic Broadway Theater downtown Mt. Pleasant, and Art Reach, which add to our screening rooms at Park Library.

You can donate here if you’d like to support the continuation of the Central Michigan International Film Festival. Or contact Festival Director Patty Williamson, to find out how to become a sponsor at cmiff@cmich.edu
